Russian Art Week is an international exhibition and competition of contemporary art, bringing together both artists and experts from different countries. Since its founding in 2007, the project has gathered more than 12,500 artists, designers, and masters from 37 countries and 238 cities around the world.
The exhibition is open to artists aged 16 and over. There are three professional categories of participants: Professionals, Students, and Amateurs.
A competition is held as part of the exhibition. The evaluation of competition entries is carried out by the Expert Council (jury), which includes more than 50 experts from Russia and abroad — art historians, gallerists, curators, renowned artists, designers, and patrons.
There are three equivalent ways to participate:
The presented forms of participation are universal. All authors, regardless of the method of participation, take part in the competition and exhibition program, and are evaluated by jury members with uniform criteria for all contestants.
The following professional categories of authors take part in Russian Art Week:
The program of Russian Art Week is open to any author over 16 years of age from any region of the Russian Federation, as well as any foreign country. Participants from Russia and foreign countries have equal rights.
Choose your best artworks for participation in the competition. Photograph each work in diffused daylight by a window, avoiding direct sunlight and glare. Prepare a file in JPG or PNG format, sized from 1 to 10 MB. A high-quality image is the key to an objective evaluation: it will allow the jury to see all the nuances of technique, texture, and color transitions.
Fill out the registration form before October 29, 2026. Provide information about the author and the work, and attach an image of the work. File requirements: from 1 to 10 MB. If the file exceeds 10 MB, fill out the text part of the form and send the image to
"РЕГИСТРАЦИЯ"
After the Organizing Committee confirms the possibility of presenting your work at the project, you will receive a link to pay the organizational fee. The fee is determined by the form of participation and the size of the work. To complete registration, you must make the payment and be sure to send the receipt (check) of payment to the email address.
The Russian Art Week is held in the form of an exhibition-competition with mandatory evaluation of the submitted works by members of the international jury. The registered works are exhibited at the Moscow venue — at GOGOL ART (Moscow Center for Contemporary Arts) at the address: Gogolevsky Boulevard, 14 bldg. 3. The art objects presented at the exhibition simultaneously participate in the competition. The competitive works are evaluated by the Expert Council (jury), consisting of specialists from the Russian Federation and foreign countries (Europe, Asia, America). Additionally, numerous master classes, lectures, and creative meetings are organized for participants.
The author independently decides in which competition and nomination their work will be presented. The Organizing Committee conducts a preliminary review of works based on the submitted photo images. All works registered within the specified deadlines and confirmed by the organizing committee are exhibited at the exhibition and participate in the competition program,
with the exception of:
1) works that violate public norms accepted in the Russian Federation; 2) works on political topics; works that offend religious feelings and personality. The decision of the Organizing Committee regarding the above exceptions is final and not subject to discussion.
An Expert Council (jury) is formed to evaluate the competitive works. The Expert Council includes the following professional groups:
1) leading members of art unions and associations;
2) representatives of specialized mass media;
3) art historians;
4) representatives of mass media that publish information about the art world;
5) patrons of the arts. The Expert Council includes evaluation both in the exposition (in-person jury) and in electronic form (correspondence jury).
The work of the Expert Council (jury) includes evaluating the art objects submitted to the competition on a 10-point system. The scores are summed up and the arithmetic mean is determined.
To register art objects for the competition program, authors send to the organizing committee (by email):
1) resolution of at least 200 dpi;
2) at least 600 pixels on the smaller side;
3) formats: .JPEG or .JPG or .TIFF;
4) color mode: RGB;
5) file size: from 1 to 20 MB.
Images may contain only brand marks and authorship signatures. Labels for each file and application forms are sent as a separate file in Word format.
After sending registration materials to the organizing committee and receiving confirmation, participants provide their competitive works for the exhibition. In-person works must be prepared for display on vertical stands: 1) have hooks, loops, or eyelets for hanging; 2) have a rigid backing (passe-partout, frame, stretcher, etc.); 3) have labels (in the lower right corner, on the front side). Together with the art object provided for the exhibition, the applicant submits a "Card / Transfer Act", which will be the basis for the subsequent issuance of competitive works at the end of the exhibition. At the end of the exhibition, in-person art objects are returned on the closing day according to the "Card / Transfer Act".
After registering via the Internet, the organizing committee prints the files sent to the competition and places photocopies of the competitive art objects in the exposition. The size of the printed images is A3 (297×420 mm). One file must contain one competitive work. At the end of the exhibition, the organizing committee sends diplomas of the participant or winner by mail.
AUTHOR'S MARKS AND SIGNATURES
A signature, stamp, or any other identifying mark of authorship is allowed anywhere on the photo image. Subsequently, the competitive images are published in the exhibition catalog and mass media with the author's distinctive marks. Inscriptions with the names of art objects on the front side are not allowed.
AUTHOR'S CONSENT
By participating in the Art Week, the Author gives consent to the inclusion of their phone number and email in free information mailings notifying about the holding of Art Weeks and art projects organized by the Eurasian Art Union and the "Art-Commune" Foundation in Russia and abroad. If the author wishes not to use this free service, the Author must inform the Organizing Committee in any of the following ways: by sending a request to exclude their phone and/or email to the address: by sending an SMS request to exclude their phone and/or email to the mobile phone: +7-925-0223303.
SALE OF ARTWORKS
All competitive works presented at the exhibition participate in the art fair and can be sold at the price indicated by the author upon registration (in the application form and label data). The Organizing Committee withholds a commission of 20% of the value of the sold work (if the work is purchased during the exhibition) and 30% if the Organizing Committee sold the work after the end of the exhibition (for the entire period of storage of the work at the exhibition directorate). If the author does not wish to sell their work, they indicate this upon registration — in this case, the price is not set, and the work does not participate in the fair sale.
USE OF PHOTO IMAGES
Copyright and related rights to all submitted works remain with the artist. If a competitive work is submitted by a representative of the author (producer, agent, or other person), the applicant is responsible for compliance with copyright and the accuracy of the information. The Organizing Committee has the right to use the author's name (pseudonym) and photo images of art objects that participated in the competition and exhibition for the purposes of advertising and popularization of the international project "Russian Art Week", as well as other exhibitions and art events organized by the World Fund of Arts, the Eurasian Art Union, and the "Art-Commune" Foundation in Russia and abroad. The participant gives consent to the non-commercial use of materials as illustrations, as well as publication in mass media and informational posts on social networks.
DIPLOMAS
All participants receive diplomas (participant or winner). Within 3 weeks after the end of the exhibition, the Organizing Committee sends diplomas to the participants' email (in .pdf format). Paper diplomas are issued on the last day of the exhibition at the award ceremony, and then stored at the exhibition directorate. If a participant wishes to receive a paper diploma, the Organizing Committee can send it by Russian Post (postal expenses are paid by the participant).
PARTICIPATION IN PROGRAMS
In-person and correspondence authors have the right to attend master classes, lectures, and special programs marked with the label "For Art Week participants — free". The rest of the program is paid, but a special discount is provided for participants.
The exposition includes 6 sections representing the main types of fine and decorative-applied art. All works must be created by the author without the use of neural networks and AI agents — only live authorial craftsmanship. Works made with classical artistic materials and techniques are allowed: oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, graphics, sculpture, ceramics, textile, metal, wood, and other traditional materials. Digital art created on a computer or with the help of artificial intelligence is not allowed to participate in the project. The artist, through color, line, and form, relying on their skill and creative style, conveys the character, soul, and uniqueness of each art work.
The jury evaluates the submitted works according to the following main criteria: 1) mastery of execution — level of proficiency in material, technique, and composition; 2) originality of artistic solution — novelty of concept, non-standard approach, authorial style; 3) emotional depth and integrity of the image — the ability of the work to evoke a response, convey feelings and ideas with a harmonious unity of form, content, and color solution. Awards are given in each competition, each nomination, and each professional group. Winners are determined based on the arithmetic mean score received. The works are evaluated by recognized artists, art historians, patrons, and experts in the field of contemporary art, which guarantees a professional and objective evaluation of each competitive work.
Based on the results of the Russian Art Week, a full-color illustrated publication is issued, which includes all works accepted for the project. The catalog is in A4 format. Each work is placed on a separate page with label data and the author's surname and first name. The publication is released in Russian and English.
